Godzilla, Kong, and the Skar King feature on the first character posters from GODZILLA x KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE
Warner Bros has fired up the hype train for GODZILLA x KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE. The upcoming sequel to Adam Wingard’s Godzilla vs Kong is rampaging into cinemas in April. But just as we enter into the festive period, the studio has dropped three character posters from the MonsterVerse adventure featuring the big three. As you might expect, Godzilla and Kong are leading the charge. But casting a long shadow is the movie’s main antagonist – the colossal new kaiju the Skar King.
The infamous new threat to Kong and Godzilla’s dominance originates from deep within the Earth and poses a threat to the existence of all life on the planet. Naturally, the two titular titans will need to combine their strengths to have any chance of defeating the Skar King. The film is also expected to dive deeper into the lore of the MonsterVerse, as well as the legacy of both Kong and Godzilla. Potentially revealing more about the history of Skull Island in the process. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Stomp down and explore the posters below.

THE MONSTERVERSE
For this outing, Adam Wingard is returning to the director’s chair. As are many familiar faces from his last adventure. Returning cast members include Rebecca Hall as Dr. Ilene Andrews, Brian Tyree Henry as Bernie Hayes, and Kaylee Hottle as Jia. Newcomers to the MonsterVerse include Dan Stevens, Fala Chen, Alex Ferns, and Rachel House.
Of course, fans of the Kaiju fun don’t need to wait until April to explore the legacy of the MonsterVerse. Apple TV+’s sensational new series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is currently streaming on the platform and delivers a masterclass of storytelling. In my glowing review, I said “MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS is a revelation. It boasts standout performances from its cast, a compelling storyline, and adds some much-needed gravitas to the MonsterVerse as a whole. Although the series utilizes some of the franchise’s biggest stars, this story is about the incredible individuals responsible for creating Monarch as a whole. As well as the fabric of the entity itself. What we are rewarded with is a gloriously compelling series that is rich in story, light on disappointment, and colossal in monster action.” Read my full review here.
