OtE Productions, an impact-focused subsidiary of not-for-profit conservation organisation On the Edge, has announced the upcoming release of its brand new mobile game, Electric Blue: Gecko Dash!

THE GAME

The latest addition to OtE Productions’ catalogue of mobile games, designed to make heroes of endangered species. The game gives players the opportunity to step into the toes of the Williams’ Dwarf Gecko. And experience life, and captivity, through its eyes. Under pressure from the pet trade, and on the brink of extinction, the plight of this tiny, yet striking, gecko is brought to life through vibrant environments and casual, relaxing gameplay.

Developed in partnership with Usiku Games and Kayfo Games, part of the Pan Africa Gaming Group, the game sees players dash, dip, dive and duck their way through evolving landscapes and levels, learning more about the Electric Blue gecko, and how to save it from extinction, with every tap and jump.

BETH BLOOD

Beth Blood, Founder and CEO of On the Edge, said:

“We’ve never been more disconnected from the world that exists outside of our cities and away from our gadgets. This makes it easier for humanity to ignore or not realise our impact on the natural world.

“With the upcoming launch of Electric Blue: Gecko Dash!, we want to inspire a curiosity and a love for this small and critically endangered animal, to help protect it from both the pet trade and the threats facing its local habitat, such as forest fires and invasive plant species.

“By highlighting unique and endearing species like the Electric Blue Gecko and their plight, we hope to inspire a greater reconnection with the natural world.”

ON THE EDGE

On the Edge partners with developers from around the world. To publish mobile games that help players understand the challenges nature is facing in the real world. From dodging dangers in Save the Purple Frog, to sprinting through the forest in Kākāpo Run. Each game raises awareness of often overlooked and unique species in the plant, fungi and animal kingdoms, to help protect the worlds they live in.

Players in Indonesia, the Philippines, Mexico, and the UK can pre-register for access to the game here, before it officially launches in February 2024:
