Hot Toys Review | Paz Vizsla (Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 3)

It doesn’t happen every day but the Hot Toys Paz Vizsla has been surprisingly released at Sideshow Collectibles first before Hot Toys headquarters in Hong Kong. This figure is a re-issue of the first version that was released during season 1 of The Mandalorian. This new version is based on Paz Vizsla’s appearance in season 3 with accessories from The Book of Boba Fett.

THE BOX AND ACCESSORIES

The box is your usual Star Wars box design – a black box with a promotional picture of the figure and the Star Wars logo. The promotional picture features Paz Vizsla with his newly included shield accessory. Figures from The Mandalorian have a yellow colored strip. Since this is a season 3 figure, in the background of the colored strip, you can see the ruins of Mandalore, it’s cool.

In terms of accessories, you get exactly what you need for this figure. The display base is a grid base like the one that came with Bo-Katan and Koska Reeves. It’s a simple and good base. This is better than the sandy footprints base. The stand is a dynamic one so be careful with that. Then, he has 8 hands – two fist hands, two hands to hold the big gun, two open hands, one hand to hold the vibro-blade, and one hand that seems to be a stop order hand, I’m not exactly sure what is its use.

The figure comes with a vibro-blade, it’s bigger than I expected. There is a nice weathering on the handle. The shield surprisingly doesn’t work with a magnet but it’s a piece of armor you have to remove from the wrist armor. It’s still easy to do. The big gun is impressive, it’s more than half the size of the actual figure. The cable that connects it to the jetpack is bendable so no worries on that side. The jetpack itself is also bigger than any jetpack we’ve gotten before. Weathering has been nicely applied to it. As usual with jetpacks, there are jetpack thrusters.

THE FIGURE

Paz Vizsla is an imposing and big figure. Hot Toys has accurately recreated this character in figure format. As someone who is a huge fan of The Mandalorian, it is a must-have in my collection. I didn’t get the first version when it was released but I am glad I got it. The boots are separated pieces so this means you have foot articulation which is great for a Mandalorian figure, you can go all in with action poses. The vibro-blade can be inserted into the boot. Both the feet and the belt use plastic instead of pleather but the way it is painted and sculpted makes it feel visually like pleather.

There are a lot of battle scratches and weathering all over the armor, it gives the figure a warrior look like you can tell he has been fighting for a long time. Overall, this figure looks different from other Mandalorians and yet, it still has that Mandalorian vibe. I think that’s what makes him unique and it will stand out in your collection. I also like the Old Republic Mandalorian inspiration for the helmet.
