This August, Shudder is dragging us into a Hell Hole and unearthing Horror’s Greatest hits. Get ready to dive into August’s highlight reel for some terrifying thrills!

With the second half of the year upon us, Shudder has curated a collection of spine-chilling content to captivate horror enthusiasts. As the warm summer nights fade, the horror streaming service goes above and beyond to provide an impressive selection of content for the cellar dwellers among us.

Although there are only a few new releases this August, we can look forward to a collection of classic chilling films being added to the platform. These films will include thrilling features with demons, satanic worship, and serial killers, perfect for blood seekers and monster fans.

NEW RELEASES

It’s disappointing that only a few new releases will be available on the service this August. However, despite the limited number, the quality of the available content is worth the wait. The streamer also dives into the horror vault and brings some rare gems.  The new releases to the platform include Hell Hole, a chilling adventure from the filmmaking team behind Hellbender. In the film, an America-led fracking crew uncovers a living French soldier frozen in time from a Napoleonic campaign, whose body hosts a parasitic monster. The film sounds like a chilling new take on The Thing, and if that sounds like you’re thing, the film hits the streamer on August 23.

Introducing Shudder’s latest additions! Horror’s Greatest invites you to immerse yourself in the captivating world of horror, offering fresh perspectives on timeless classics and delving into a treasure trove of lesser-known, spine-tingling gems. Join us for an exhilarating journey that caters to every horror enthusiast’s passion. Experience the bone-chilling narrative of Dancing Village: The Curse Begins as it unfolds the mysterious and ominous occurrences that haunt an isolated island. Lastly, prepare to embark on an enthralling adventure with Divinity, a riveting portrayal of the relentless pursuit of immortality. This exceptional production, by acclaimed producer Steven Soderberg, features a stellar cast including Bella Thorne, Stephen Dorff, and Scott Bakula.

Hell Hole – Film Premieres on Shudder and AMC+ Friday, 23 August

The newest film from the Adams Family, the filmmaking team behind Hellbender, Hell Hole centers on an America-led fracking crew that uncovers a living French soldier frozen in time from a Napoleonic campaign, whose body hosts a parasitic monster. Starring Toby Poser, John Adams, Max Portman and Anders Hove.

Dancing Village: The Curse Begins Film Premieres on Shudder and AMC+ Friday 16 August

A shaman instructs Mila to return a mystical bracelet, the Kawaturih, to the “Dancing Village,” a remote site on the easternmost tip of Java Island. Joined by her cousin, Yuda, and his friends Jito and Arya, Mila arrives on the island only to discover that the village elder has passed away, and that the new guardian, Mbah Buyut, isn’t present. Various strange and eerie events occur while awaiting Mbah Buyut’s return, including Mila being visited by Badarawuhi, a mysterious, mythical being who rules the village. When she decides to return the Kawaturih without the help of Mgah Buyut, Mila threatens the village’s safety, and she must join a ritual to select the new “Dawuh,” a cursed soul forced to dance for the rest of her life.
