“Agatha All Along delivers its best episode yet. It’s an intense and scary episode that ends with one of the most iconic MCU reveal scene.”

It’s Thursday so this means it’s time for our weekly dose of Marvel with a new episode of Agatha All Along! Episodes are released weekly every Thursday in the UK at 2 a.m. and on Wednesdays in the US at 6 p.m. PT.

Even though I enjoyed Deadpool & Wolverine this Summer, I felt a bit disinterested in the MCU but Agatha All Along has revived my interest in the franchise. This series is exactly what we need right now. Firstly, it’s the perfect series for Halloween season. It brings scares while also being fun at the same time. Secondly, it explores the witchcraft aspect of the MCU. It’s something we haven’t seen enough of. This series breathes fresh air into the franchise. We are more than halfway through the series now and it has proven that it’s a great and worthy addition to the MCU. It does its own thing and shines doing it.

This week’s episode takes Agatha’s coven on their scariest trial yet. This one goes full on witches fun while also raising the horror vibe. Throughout the episode, it’s an anxious atmosphere with the tension slowly rising. There are several jump scares! Plus, the 80s aesthetic is the cherry on the cake. This aesthetic combined with the anxious atmosphere is a combo that doesn’t get any better. It’s honestly the type of episode you would watch on a Saturday night with the lights off.

It may be the shortest episode yet but it doesn’t feel short at all nor does it feel rushed. A runtime doesn’t mean an episode is good or bad, it is its content that determines that. It’s better to have a 30-minute episode that makes great use of its time than a 1-hour episode that drags on for too long. And here, it’s clear this is the best episode of Agatha All Along so far.

“YOU SHOULD SEE ME IN A CROWN”

We all had our doubts about Teen, it was quite obvious, the same way it was obvious Agnes was Agatha Harkness in WandaVision. But what matters is that the reveal itself still surprises. That’s entertainment. Teen’s reveal as Wiccan a.ka. Billy Kaplan/Maximoff, Scarlet Witch’s son is nothing short of perfect. The reference to Scarlet Witch, the use of his powers and him wearing the crown just as Billie Eilish’s song ‘you should see me in a crown’ starts is absolutely memorable. Undoubtedly, this is one of the most iconic MCU reveal scene. It’s going to be difficult to top that.

This reveal is so important for the story because of who Wiccan is as a character but also because he is Marvel’s queer icon. And he is finally in the MCU now. (We saw Billy in WandaVision but he wasn’t Wiccan yet.) I’ll say it again – Agatha All Along is Marvel’s gayest series and I’m all here for it. Wiccan is one of my two favourite characters from the Marvel comics (the other one being Captain Marvel), so it was a moment I was waiting for. It doesn’t disappoint. Joe Locke shines in this role, I couldn’t think of a better choice for Wiccan.

Moreover, the crown is a nice callback to Scarlet Witch’s crown while also staying in line with Wiccan’s early comics look when he had a headband. We all know now that the next step is a full costume reveal. It is surely going to be exciting!

VERDICT

Agatha All Along delivers its best episode yet. It’s an intense and scary episode that ends with one of the most iconic MCU reveal scene.

Agatha All Along is now streaming on Disney Plus.
