THE UK TOP TEN

As next Wednesday is Christmas Day, this week sees the official Christmas number one title being crowned. In the placings, we have two new entries and two re-entries appearing this week. These titles take the places of Godzilla Minus One, Wonka, The Grinch (Live-Action), and The Grinch (Animated). But what is this year’s number-one title? It’s time for The Last Dance before Christmas as we find out.

VENOM DANCES HIS WAY TO BECOME THE CHRISTMAS NUMBER ONE!

Venom: The Last Dance makes a big debut at Number 1 on the Official Film Chart. The Marvel Entertainment film starring Tom Hardy is the third and final film in the Venom trilogy and also marks a full house for the films in reaching Number 1 in the UK. Venom (2018) spent three weeks at the top, while Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) managed one. In the final instalment of the series, Eddie Brock and Venom have to make a devastating decision as they’re pursued by hunters from both of their worlds. (Read our review here.)

FORGET THE SCHMALTZ, ENJOY SOME HORROR INSTEAD!

Congratulations to Venom: The Last Dance for becoming the 2024 Christmas number one film title. However, to counteract the sweet and sugary fare that we will be experiencing again this year, why not try two horror movies instead? The first is Heretic, which makes its debut on PVOD this week. It stars Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East as two Mormon missionaries who attempt to convert a reclusive man (Hugh Grant) but realize he is more dangerous than he seems (Read our review here.) The film is a chilling watch and you’ll never look at High Grant in the same way again. Rent it now for £15.99.

The second film is the horror sequel Smile 2. A sequel to Smile (2022), the film stars Naomi Scott as a pop star who begins to experience a series of increasingly disturbing events just as she is about to embark on tour (Read our review here.) The film is available to buy on digital download now for £13.99.

And that just about wraps things up (pun intended!) until after Christmas. So, allow me to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and until next time…

Whatever you decide, whatever you buy, stay safe, be kind, look after each other, and happy viewing!!
