Get ready for the return of Jason Momoa in the DC Universe. Find out all about his new role as Lobo in the upcoming film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Look out, DC fans, because Jason Momoa is back in the DC Universe. Less than a year after his tenure as Aquaman ended, the actor signed on the dotted line to become James Gunn’s Lobo. This isn’t the first time Momoa has been linked to the role; rumors broke of his association with the role before his time as Arthur Curry came to an abrupt end. But now, with the DC Universe officially about to relaunch with Superman, Gunn, Momoa, and Deadline have confirmed the casting.
Momoa will now slip into Lobo’s shoes for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The actor said he loves the character and has always wanted to bring him to life. Now, James Gunn has made that dream come true. Lobo is a Czarnian bounty hunter who rides a motorcycle through the cosmos in search of his targets. This has routinely brought him into conflict with members of the Justice League, so DC fans will be readying themselves for some over-the-top action when the Girl of Steel swoops onto the big screen.

Taking to his Instagram account, Momoa said:
Momoa captioned the post: “They called.”
DC’S BOUNTY HUNTER
Lobo does not appear in Tom King’s original Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow storyline. However, with the formation of the new DC Studios, Ana Nogueira’s screenplay has been expanded to include the gunslinging mercenary, suggesting a new direction for the studio. Craig Gillespie is at the helm for this latest adventure featuring the Girl of Steel. Recently, James Gunn indicated that this portrayal of the character will have a different tone compared to Helen Slater’s interpretation of the superhero.
“In our series we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl,” Gunn said. “She’s much more hardcore, she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re use to seeing.”

RELEASE
