James Gunn has revealed our first look at Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler as John Stewart and Hal Jordan in DC Studios’ Lanterns.
DC Studios has dropped a first look at Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler as John Stewart and Hal Jordan in the upcoming series LANTERNS. The forthcoming DC series is finally in production, and with the cameras rolling, James Gunn has delivered our first look at the duo. The pair are pictured in civilian clothes walking down a highway, but if you look close enough, eagle-eyed fans can spot the iconic Green Lantern ring on Chandler’s finger.
Per the official logline, the series follows “new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.” The cast also includes Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, and Ulrich Thomsen as Green Lantern villain Sinestro.

CAST & CREW
Lanterns is co-written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King. All three serve as executive producers, along with James Hawes, who also directs the first two episodes. The series is the first of its kind, bringing one of DC’s biggest heroes to the small screen. But fans can see DC Studios’ first Green Lantern in James Gunn’s Superman movie when Nathan Fillion debuts as Green Lantern Corps—member Guy Gardner.
Additionally, DC Studios recently announced an all-new animated series titled My Adventures With Green Lantern, which is fast-moving along the assembly line. The series follows the template utilized by the similarly titled My Adventures With Superman, which delighted fans everywhere. The show “will follow high school student Jessica Cruz, who has her life upended when a Green Lantern Power Ring falls from the sky and chooses Cruz to be its champion. Things get even worse when more debris from the Lanterns’ ancient space war arrives – along with their alien foes,”

RELEASE
This is phenomenal news. The Green Lantern Corps has been sidelined in the DC Universe for too long, and we welcome its return to James Gunn’s revamped DCU. Starting with Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner, the Green Lantern is back on the game board, and that is an exciting prospect.
Sadly, DC Studios hasn’t committed to a timeframe for the series. But with filming on the show now officially underway, hopefully, the Green Lantern will be back bringing joy to our lives soon.
Lanterns will reunite us with the Green Lantern Corps…sometime soon!
