Jack Reynor To Star In Lee Cronin's Take On The Mummy

Jack Reynor has joined the cast of Lee Cronin’s The Mummy. Filming is officially underway, bringing modern life to ancient evil.

Exciting news about The Mummy is emerging from the Sarcophagus. In June, it was announced that Lee Cronin, known for “Evil Dead Rise,” was developing a new horror film for Atomic Monster, Blumhouse Productions, and New Line Cinema. After much speculation, it was confirmed that the project would be a fresh take on the concept of “The Mummy.” However, Cronin’s vision is unrelated to the classic Universal horror property. This fresh approach aims to breathe modern life into ageless evil.

Since then, news about the film has been buried beneath the City of the Dead at Hamunaptra. But today, the studio has confirmed that filming is officially underway, and Jack Reynor is attached to star. The studio stopped short of announcing who Reynor would play, but they did confirm that he wouldn’t be playing the legendary monster. Reynor recently starred in Transformers: Age of Extinction and Midsommar, but now he’s signed on the dotted one to face The Mummy.

MONSTERS UNITE

After his chilling interpretation of the Evil Dead franchise, the idea of Cronin creating a new version of The Mummy is an exciting prospect that will appeal to many horror fans. But what might his fresh take on this property look like? THR quotes the director as saying “This will be unlike any Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before. I’m digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening.”

The title of Cronin’s new Mummy movie is still a secret, known only to a select few. It has been confirmed that Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are collaborating to finance the project. Horror legend James Wan is on board as a producer, working alongside Jason Blum and John Keville. Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Macdara Kelleher will serve as executive producers, while Alayna Glasthal is overseeing the project for Atomic Monster.

The Mummy will bring a new breed of terror to cinemas on April 17, 2026.
