The Marvel Cinematic Universe has experienced its share of misfires. Are we on the verge of entering another golden era? Annlyel investigates.
I’ve been a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since The Avengers in 2012. Still, I have to admit that there have been moments recently when the mega-franchise has seemed to lose its footing a bit (yes, I’m talking about you, Secret Invasion). However, it appears that the MCU is embarking on a legendary run that is sure to reignite the fan base’s excitement for these stories.
On Tuesday, the finale of Daredevil: Born Again delivered a gritty, violent rollercoaster ride of intensity that felt like everything fans have been clamoring for. Frank Castle‘s return alongside Matt Murdock was not the only highlight of the finale, as we finally saw Kingpin return to his ruthless ways. And so, what began as a disappointing reboot has now transformed into something that has me bouncing with excitement for the second season.

THUNDERBOLTS
In two weeks, Thunderbolts enters theaters, and it’s been one of my most anticipated MCU films since its announcement. The trailers have been great, the marketing has been pretty fun to look at, and the story looks utterly fantastic. I have a feeling it’s going to become one of the most exciting MCU films in recent years and an instant fan-favorite.
And to top it all off, the official trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has finally been released, and it boasts an emotional, high-stakes ride that will have audiences exclaiming, “Fantastic Four!” I’ve been a fan of the Fantastic Four since I saw them for the first time in 2005’s Fantastic Four. Although that adaptation wasn’t particularly great, I loved the characters. Now, with Matt Shakman at the helm, it seems like we’re finally about to get a faithfully adapted interpretation of the characters and the story that’ll leave me beaming from ear to ear.

THE FUTURE
And of course, because this is the MCU, that’s not all. Ironheart drops in June, Wonder Man debuts this fall, we’ve got some more fun animated series to look forward to in Eyes of Wakanda and Marvel Zombies, and next year, the cinematic events we’re all waiting for: Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In short, it’s never been a better time to be an MCU fan.
