The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping has cast Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee!
After announcing its first four cast members, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping has cast Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee Latier, a role previously played by Jeffrey Wright in the original Hunger Games films. Harrison Jr. recently voiced Taka in Mufasa: The Lion King. He is represented by WME, Anonymous Content, and Del Shaw Moonves Tanaka Finkelstein Lezcano Bobb & Dang.

The Lionsgate film is based on Suzanne Collins’s bestselling novel. It was published on March 18 and received wide acclaim. The book sold 1.5 million copies in its first week of release in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Notably, the 1.2 million copies sold in its first week in the U.S. are twice the first-week sales of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. These sales are also three times those of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.
STORY
The story takes place 40 years after the prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. This prequel centers on a young Coriolanus Snow, set 24 years before the events of the original tale featuring Katniss Everdeen. *The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping* is scheduled for release in cinemas on November 20, 2026. This new prequel explores the events of the second Quarter Quell, which marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Hunger Games. The fan-favorite character Haymitch Abernathy plays a central role in this event.

DIRECTION
Francis Lawrence, who directed all the films in the franchise except for the first, returns as the director. Billy Ray, who co-wrote the screenplay for the original film, is also back on board. The producers, Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson from Color Force, along with Cameron MacConomy, who serves as an executive producer, are involved in the project.
