Josh O'Connor Stars In The Mastermind, Streaming Exclusively Soon On MUBI.

Josh O’Connor and Alana Haim appear in Kelly Reichardt’s The Mastermind, following its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

MUBI, the global distributor, streaming service and production company, is proud to announce that the new film from Kelly Reichardt (First CowShowing Up), The Mastermind, will be released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 24 October 2025, following its World Premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

THE PREMISE

In a sedate corner of Massachusetts circa 1970, JB Mooney (Josh O’Connor), an unemployed carpenter turned amateur art thief, plans his first big heist. When things go haywire, his life unravels.

BEHIND THE CAMERAS

Neil Kopp, Anish Savjani, and Vincent Savino of film science are the producers of the film. MUBI is financing the film and will distribute it in select territories, retaining rights in North America, the UK, Ireland, LATAM, Germany, Austria, Benelux, Turkey, and India. The Match Factory will handle the remaining worldwide sales. UTA Independent Film Group handled financing for the film.
