SYNOPSIS

The Conjuring: Last Rites delivers another thrilling chapter of the iconic Conjuring cinematic universe, based on real events. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson return as Lorraine and Ed Warren in a powerful and spine-chilling addition to the global box office-breaking franchise.

Recently, Entertainment Weekly expanded on what we can expect from the film. Their report said: The film is set in 1986, five years after the events of The Devil Made Me Do It. The Warrens have retired from the exorcist business, mainly due to Ed’s heart attack, the one sustained during the demonic happenings of the third film. They still hit the university circuit, presenting talks at various schools, but even those opportunities are drying up. Of course, certain events force them back into the fold one last time.

CAST & CREW

We’re thrilled to see Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprising their roles as the dynamic paranormal investigators and devoted couple, Ed and Lorraine Warren! The cast expands with the talented Rebecca Calder and Elliot Cowan, who take on the roles of Janet and Jack Smurl. The Smurl family will be brought to life by an amazing ensemble, including Kíla Lord Cassidy as one daughter, along with Beau Gadsdon, Tilly Walker, Molly Cartwright, Peter Wight, and Kate Fahy portraying the loving grandparents.

We’ll also meet a grown-up Judy, played by Mia Tomlinson, who is now in her 20s and navigating life alongside her boyfriend, Tony Spera, portrayed by Ben Hardy. Exciting flashbacks will showcase younger versions of Ed and Lorraine, featuring Orion Smith and Madison Lawlor.

Shannon Kook is back as the Warrens’ reliable technical assistant, Drew, and we’re pleased to hear that John Brotherton returns as Officer Brad Hamilton from the first film. Plus, Steve Coulter reprises his role as Father Gordon, connecting this story to the broader Conjuring universe! Michael Chaves, who previously directed The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, The Nun II, and the Conjuring Universe-adjacent film The Curse of La Llorona, is directing The Conjuring: Last Rites. The screenplay is written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.
