Blue Beetle and Cobra Kai star Xolo Maridueña has joined the cast of One Piece Season 3 as Portgas D. Ace.
Look out, One Piece fans, because Xolo Maridueña has officially joined the cast of One Piece Season 3. Netflix has officially announced that the Blue Beetle star will play Portgas D. Ace in the new season, which returns to production later this year. Maridueña joins new cast member Cole Escola (the Tony Award-winning star of the Broadway play Oh, Mary!), who will play theatrical assassin Bon Clay in the third installment.
Maridueña is no stranger to Netflix. The actor starred as karate sensation Miguel Diaz in all six seasons of the Karate Kid sequel series Cobra Kai. So it makes sense for the star to swim across the Grand Line to join the established cast for the third season.
SEASON 2
But before we enter the race for the One Piece in Season 3, there’s the small matter of the upcoming second season to attend to. ONE PIECE: Into the Grand Line returns for Season 2 on March 10, 2026. New episodes find the Straw Hats visiting epic new locations as they sail through the legendary stretch of sea known as the Grand Line. Season 2 will introduce a variety of new characters, including the blue-nosed reindeer-boy hybrid Tony Tony Chopper (voiced by Mikaela Hoover) and the enigmatic Miss Wednesday (Charithra Chandran).
CAST & CREW
The entire cast will return for the new season, as well as the previously announced third season, led, as always, by Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy. Tracz serves as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer for Season 2 alongside Matt Owens. Additional executive producers for the series include Oda, Marty Adelstein, and Becky Clements through Tomorrow Studios, as well as Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe, and Steven Maeda.

This is phenomenal news. The first season of the hit series was a sensation, providing an incredible pirate adventure. With our cast in place for Season 2 and beyond, the gloves are off, and the action is ramped up to eleven! The creatures are bigger, the enemies are bolder, and the action looks off the charts. So, we will be sitting in our straw hats for Season 2, come hell or high water. And now with Xolo Maridueña joining the cast for the third season, the adventures of the straw hats are here to stay!
