Evil Dead Burn Turned a London Cinema into a Horror Playground

The cast of Evil Dead Burn takes over London’s Leicester Square and unleashes the Deadites across three cinemas!

Last night, the cast of Evil Dead Burn descended on London—and they didn’t come alone. Joined by a horde of gloriously grotesque Deadites, director Sébastien Vaniček and stars Souheila Yacoub and Hunter Doohan turned a special screening of the film into a full-blown horror spectacle, delivering plenty of extra scares before the opening credits had even rolled.

While Vaniček and his brilliant cast entertained the crowd with behind-the-scenes stories and production secrets, the Deadites had other ideas. Roaming London’s iconic Prince Charles Cinema in full character, they terrorized unsuspecting moviegoers, causing gleeful chaos wherever they lurked.

We were lucky enough to witness the carnage firsthand, and it was every bit as entertaining as you’d hope. At one point, a particularly mischievous Deadite snatched my phone right out of my hands while I was filming, proving that nowhere—and nothing—was safe. And that was only the beginning. Popcorn was pilfered, audience members were playfully chased through the venue, and some unlucky guests even found Deadites trying to claim their seats.

It was the perfect way to kick off an Evil Dead screening, blurring the line between the film and reality in all the best ways. The immersive antics made an already thrilling night feel even more memorable—and somehow made the movie itself even more of a blast. Take a look at some of the images from the night below.

REACTIONS

As expected, we had an absolute blast with Sébastien Vaniček’s take on the Evil Dead franchise. In our social media reactions, I said: “Sébastien Vaniček’s Evil Dead Burn is a bloodthirsty, gory and brutal expansion of the Evil Dead lore. Although the film lacks the depth of the previous outings, the unrelenting violence and Deadite action make it a blood-chillingly great ride of pure barbarism. Groovy!”

Not everyone left quite as swept up in the carnage, however. Our News Editor, Carl Roberts, offered a more measured take on the film, saying: “Evil Dead Burn, despite some great violence, gore and horror, feels like a step back for the franchise. While horror fans will get their fill, it feels like something is missing despite spirited, great performances. However, it fits in nicely with what’s gone before.”
