With Christopher Nolan’s epic The Odyssey opening in cinemas this week, alongside two smaller releases, there’s only one film to rule them all!
Movie companies around the world are trembling in their boots. They know, as well as we do, that there’s one film that will dominate everything at the box office this weekend. Accordingly, they have wisely decided to give it a wide berth. That film is The Odyssey. Christopher Nolan’s epic movie is gearing up to hit screens worldwide from Friday (except for a few markets, where it has opened today), meaning that instead of having a repeat of Barbenheimer from a few years ago, the film has a solo run at the multiplexes. Two other films are also opening this week, in smaller releases. But there’s only one movie juggernaut this week.

Our reviewer, Thomas Storai, saw the film at his local cinema in France and had this to say about the film:
“The Odyssey is a masterpiece. Christopher Nolan has crafted his most ambitious film yet. It’s a historical epic that delivers in every way. It’s visually breathtaking, and the natural-light cinematography enhances the massive practical sets and real locations. Seeing it in IMAX 70mm is absolutely mind-blowing—there’s no other cinematic experience like it. Ludwig Göransson’s musical score is majestic and unforgettable. Matt Damon delivers a tour de force performance, leading an outstanding ensemble cast. He, Anne Hathaway, and Tom Holland all deserve Oscar recognition. Tom Holland delivers the best performance of his career. This is the best film of the year, and no one will be able to top it in 2026.”
