Travis Knight’s handcrafted epic fantasy Wildwood sees Laika and Black Bear debut a new poster. The film will be in cinemas in October.
Black Bear UK today unveils the new poster for Wildwood, the latest feature from LAIKA Studios, the acclaimed animation studio behind Coraline, ParaNorman, and Kubo and the Two Strings. Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings, Masters of the Universe) directs this film. Meanwhile, Chris Butler (Kubo and the Two Strings, Masters of the Universe) is the writer. Wildwood is an ambitious stop-motion fantasy adventure coming to UK cinemas on October 23, 2026.
Knight produces the film alongside Sam Wilson. Fathom Entertainment will handle a wide theatrical release across the United States, with FilmNation Entertainment representing LAIKA’s Wildwood across international territories.
THE VOICE CAST
The voice cast includes Academy Award nominee Carey Mulligan, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Academy Award nominee Richard E. Grant, Awkwafina, Amandla Stenberg, Tom Waits, Charlie Day, Blythe Danner, Arthur Knight, Maya Erskine, Jake Johnson, Tantoo Cardinal, Rob Delaney, Jemaine Clement, Marc Evan Jackson, Len Cariou, and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson. The cast also features Honorary Academy Award recipient and Emmy Award winner Angela Bassett. Additionally, Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali is included.
THE PREMISE
After her baby brother gets snatched by a murder of crows, headstrong teenager Prue McKeel dives into a desperate rescue mission in the Impassable Wilderness—an enchanted forest lurking just beyond Portland, Oregon. She teams up with her hapless but loyal classmate, Curtis Mehlberg. Moreover, as they plunge into a world filled with talking animals, bandits, and powerful figures fueled by grief and ambition, Prue and Curtis confront a conflict that threatens the very balance of the forest. Along the way, Prue must tap into the strength and belief she never knew she had.
If she hopes to save her brother and protect Wildwood’s fragile future, she will have to risk everything. From Oscar-nominated and BAFTA-winning LAIKA, Wildwood is a sweeping adventure about love, sacrifice, and the magic that reveals itself when we dare to look beyond the familiar.
Wildwood opens in UK cinemas on October 23rd.
