The score soundtracks of both The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story are in the running for awards…
With Solo: A Star Wars Story enjoying a new lease of life on home media and subsequently receiving a nomination for Best Visual Effects at the 2019 Academy Awards, there is even more good news on the horizon.
Legendary Star Wars composer John Williams and his collaborator on Solo John Powell have both been nominated for a Grammy.
Williams’ The Last Jedi has been nominated for Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media Award to Composer(s) for an original score created specifically for, or as a companion to, a current legitimate motion picture, television show or series, video games or other visual media.
The Last Jedi has been nominated alongside Black Panther, Blade Runner 2049, Coco and The Shape of Water.
Powell’s Solo: A Star Wars Story has been nominated in the Best Instrumental Composition category. The award is reserved for an original composition (not an adaptation) first released during the Eligibility Year. Singles or Tracks only.
John Powell’s composition of MINE MISSION is the recipient of the nomination.
Congratulations to both John Powell and John Williams for this incredible honour. The fans of the galaxy far, far away will be willing you to victory.
