Meet the new Sith Trooper from J.J Abrams’ Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
The Stormtrooper has been synonymous with the Star Wars saga since its inception back in 1977. From the opening moments of A New Hope where a battalion of Imperial Stormtroopers boarded the Rebel Blockade Runner, fans have been captivated by the white armoured warriors of the evil Empire.
This trend continued through the Clone Wars era with the Galactic Republic’s Clone Trooper army and its hundreds of divisions which included beloved characters like Commander Cody, Commander Wolffe, Bly, Gree, Bacara, Neyo and Captain Rex.
And when it came time to launch into The Force Awakens back in 2015, fans of all ages were introduced to the evolution of the Stormtrooper when the First Order army attacked the small settlement on Jakku. That trend continued in The Last Jedi which the introduction of the First Order Execution Troopers and the Elite Praetorian Guards, and now we can officially add a new trooper to the ranks when The Rise of Skywalker heads our way this December.
Introducing the Sith Trooper, the evolution of the First Order soldier.
The modern and more menacing trooper designed by Lucasfilm creative art manager Phil Szostak has been described as the natural evolution of the Imperial/First Order Stormtrooper and will be an active member of the First Order ranks when the Rise of Skywalker hits our screens this Christmas. However, fans attending this year’s SDCC won’t have to wait until December to get their first look at the awesome new trooper.
Lucasfilm has announced plans for fans attending the mega pop-culture event to be treated to a new exhibit of trooper armour from across the Star Wars saga, including a first look at the next evolution in Imperial/First Order soldiers: the “Sith trooper”. A total of nine different costumes, all screen-used, will be on display at the Lucasfilm pavilion (booth #2913): Imperial Stormtrooper, TIE pilot, Death Trooper, Shoretroopers, Biker Scout, First Order Stormtrooper, First Order TIE pilot, Captain Phasma, and the all-new Sith Trooper.
If that wasn’t enough to get your Star Wars juices flowing, Lucasfilm will also make an incredible line-up of Sith Trooper themed merchandise available as event exclusives. From backpacks to hats to the “Early Release Edition” of the Hasbro Black Series action figure incarnation, there will be a Sith Trooper inspired item for you. Check out our product overview below:
From its inception, the original Star Wars trilogy has been famous for adding new troopers to its ranks with every new instalment, and it is a tradition that has continued throughout the sequel saga. Just as Return of the Jedi served as our introduction to the Emperor’s Royal Guards, The Rise of Skywalker will bring the red armoured warriors full circle with the Sith Trooper. A fitting addition to the climax of the Skywalker saga.
The Sith Troopers will debut in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on December 20th.
