Jeremy Renner has a message for Sony regarding Spider-Man’s potential exile
The internet exploded this past Tuesday night when the news emerged suggesting Peter Parker’s time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe had come to an end. The reported breakdown of the relationship between Disney and Sony Pictures had claimed its first victim which came in the shape of our friendly neighbourhood wall-crawler.

In the days that followed, the world has reacted in a mixture of anger and disbelief, with a small pocket of the fanbase starting a #BoycottSony campaign hoping to provoke the media giant into reversing his apparent expulsion from the greater MCU. Cutting a long story short, nobody wants Spider-Man to leave Marvel’s incredibly lucrative universe, least of all are his fellow superheroes!!
Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner has now taken to social media to voice his opinions and has pleaded for the character to be returned to where he belongs and back to the house that Stan Lee built. The Avengers Endgame actor wrote:
“Hey @sonypictures we want Spider-Man back to @therealstanlee and @marvel please, thank you #congrats #spidermanrocks #please,”
And if Hawkeye’s voice wasn’t enough, even Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has chimed in to emphasise his disappointment.

Of course, the saga between Sony and Disney is far from over. Until the official outcome emerges from the hallways at Disney, it’s safe to say that the only people who truly know the truth are the ones sat around the negotiations table. Hopefully, the situation will work itself out for the best, but with Sony already taking to social media to express their disappointment with the relationship breakdown the outlook for a resolution looks bleak.
