Production on Falcon and the Winter Soldier halted in Prague after Government imposes a lockdown on events and travel
With the Coronavirus spreading across the globe, the entertainment industry is finding itself affected on almost every level. Recently, the European launch of Disney+ was halted due to travel concerns, the release of the latest James Bond outing; ‘No Time To Die‘ was postponed until November, ‘Peter Rabbit 2‘ was pushed back until August and filming on the latest installment from the Mission Impossible franchise was forced into delay after the outbreak hit Italy.
According to Deadline, the latest tentpole project to be affected by the pandemic is the Marvel Studios Disney+ series ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘. Even though the series had been shooting primarily in Atalanta, production recently moved to Prague where it is understood the show would film for a week or so. But after the government of Prague closed schools and placed restrictions on events and travel, the Marvel series has had to shut down production.
Sadly, there is no official word on whether the series will return to Prague, but with the production crew already advised to return home, the prospect seems unlikely. Whether this delay will affect ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s’ release date remains to be seen, but with a wealth of CGI capability at the showrunner’s fingertips, the glorious cityscape of Prague can be effortlessly integrated into the show via digital means.
The synopsis for the series is as follows:
THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER – Following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience—in Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.” The all-new series is directed by Kari Skogland; Malcolm Spellman is the head writer.
‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ is expected to debut in August 2020.
