Steve is on hand with his recommendation of what to read whilst in self-quarantine.
To help beat the coronavirus blues, for the foreseeable future, members of team Future of the Force will be on hand with our recommendations of awesome literature to check out whilst in self-quarantine. Whether its lesser-known gems, New York Times Best-Sellers, or just funs reads – we’ll be here to keep you entertained during this difficult time.
Star Wars: Doctor Aphra
Doctor Aphra is a human archaeologist in the Star Wars universe. She made her debut in Kieron Gillen’s Darth Vader series in issue #3 in March 2015. She got her own self-titled series in December 2016 which picks up after the end of the Darth Vader series. There were a total of 40 issues and 3 annuals. The series was started by Aphra-creator Kieron Gillen and he continued writing the series until issue #19. The series was then taken over by Simon Spurrier.
Part explorer and part scholar but all scoundrel, join the adventures of the Doctor with her crew of a large Wookiee bounty hunter named Black Krrsantan, a reprogrammed protocol droid named Triple Zero (0-0-0), and his homicidal astromech companion BT-1.
The best way to binge read this series is through its 6 collected editions which include all the stories from the single issues and the annuals. Aphra also made an appearance in the short story “The Trigger,” also written by Gillen for the 2017 anthology From a Certain Point of View.
Right now is the perfect time to catch up on the adventures of this loveable miscreant. For one reason, I mean, what else are you going to do while you are cooped up trying to avoid the plague besides binge-watch television and play video games? Also, a new Doctor Aphra series written by Alyssa Wong is scheduled to begin on April 1.
Let us know if you have any suggestions of great books and literature our readers should check out and we’ll feature and share them with the FOTF community.
