Isolation-Entertainment-The-James-Bond-Anthology

Carl is on hand with his recommendation of what to watch whilst in self-quarantine.

To help beat the coronavirus blues, for the foreseeable future, members of team Future of the Force will be on hand with our recommendations of awesome entertainment to check out whilst in self-quarantine. Whether its the best TV shows, ultimate movie marathons or lesser-known gems, we’ll be here to keep you entertained during this difficult time.

The James Bond Anthology

The James Bond Anthology:

Oh alright! You’ve seen them all on TV! You’ve got most of them on DVD or Blu-Ray! You can sing the lyrics to ‘Goldfinger‘ off by heart! You know all the double entendre’s and can quote them in your sleep! However, you have to admit that they, for all their faults, for all the times they’ve been shown in whatever format and for all the times you’ve seen them in their UNCUT form, the James Bond movies are easily wonderful and enjoyable entertainment. From the original films that started off in a serious vein, to ‘Goldfinger‘ which created the formula for many years and movies to come,  George Lazenby’s one-off appearance as 007 (If Connery had played the part, then the film would have been the best Bond of them all), Connery’s one-time return, Roger Moore and his overacting eyebrows, Timothy Dalton bringing back the grittiness, Pierce Brosnan finally playing the role he was born to play and up to Daniel Craig and his sublime portrayal of Bond, the movies are always worthy of a watch whenever you feel like it.

If like me, you’ve got the entire collection on Blu-Ray at your fingertips (Thanks to my brother, Phil!), then you’ve got yourself hours upon hours of enjoyment. You can pick your favorites and watch them in any order you want, select anyone that takes your fancy on the day or do the ultimate and set yourself a challenge of doing a marathon from the very start of the franchise through to the last film available ‘Spectre‘ in order.

And yes, I did try the marathon and got as far as ‘Diamonds Are Forever‘ before I stopped, mainly due to people complaining about watching them back to back. It is best to break your viewing up. My suggestion is to watch the Connery ones up until the end of ‘You Only Live Twice‘, take a break for a day or so and then watch the next five in the franchise in order and so on.

My suggestion is to curl up on the sofa, close the curtains, unplug the phone, stock up on snacks, keep the Vodka Martinis ready and waiting by your side and settle in for a terrific and completely thrilling few days or so of entertainment. Come on, we all know his number and his name!

NB: Almost all of the franchise (excluding the Daniel Craig films) is now available on Amazon Prime for our American friends-there is no word on whether the UK and the rest of the world will get them on the streaming site.

Let us know if you have any suggestions of great movies or TV shows our readers should check out and we’ll feature and share them with the FOTF community.

Stay safe.
