The Amazing Spider-Man - 001

Annlyel explores the potential for the greatest Spider-Man movie of all-time…

Over the last two decades we have gotten three different versions of Spider-Man; Tobey Maguire’s first authentic live-action Spider-Man from the early 2000s’ that fizzled into a disaster by 2007’s Spider-Man 3, Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man which ended abruptly after two movies [the second being the one that featured Jamie Foxx in a ridiculous-looking role as Electro and Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy (SPOILER ALERT!) dying “tragically.”], and then we got the best Spider-Man to date in Tom Holland’s MCU version of the character.

(I think he’s the best Spider-Man because he’s the only one of the three actors who felt like an authentic teenager. Plus, his movies are better.  😁)

Now, in December of 2021, it seems that we’re finally going to get a chance to see those rumors of all three Spider-Men on the big screen, together, in a multiverse sort of storyline, after all. Just yesterday, reports broke out that Emma Stone would be returning to reprise her role as Gwen Stacy (hopefully as the Gwen Stacy we all know and love who just so happens to also be a Spider-gal herself), Kirsten Dunst is going to be back as Mary Jane Watson, and Alfred Molina is set to return as Doctor Octopus.

There are also reports that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are just around the corner from joining the project as well, turning this into the next-level Spider-Man multiverse that fans have always dreamed of. We haven’t gotten a new Marvel movie since Spider-Man: Far from Home but it looks like Avengers: Endgame will have a greater effect on the future phases of the MCU than we previously imagined. Now, thanks to the whole “time-heist” thing, it looks like a bunch of different realities have sprung up all over the place and Doctor Strange will be the key figure in sorting all of this madness, hence his long-awaited sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

With Jamie Foxx returning as Electro and Alfred Molina returning as Doctor Octopus, the Sinister Six could very well be a possibility. But what if this team of baddies comes together through different realities, each of which features these villains hating a different version of Spider-Man. And so, in the climactic battle, we get to see three Spider-Men (and hopefully one Spider-Woman in Gwen Stacy) taking on these six iconic Spider-Man villains (Doc Ock, Electro, Mysterio who I believe isn’t dead, The Vulture, Sandman, and Kraven the Hunter) in an epic showdown that will leave jaws dropped and eyes widened in movie theaters everywhere.

Oh, the prospects of this movie are endless and I’m just patiently waiting for a teaser trailer sometime next year.
