Matt Michnovetz has done it again! The Bad Batch ‘Return To Kamino’ is a fantastic and emotional episode with breathtaking visuals.

It’s time for our weekly dose of Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Today is the first part of the season finale. This one is untitled ‘Return on Kamino.’

STORY

We pick up where we left off last week. The Bad Batch is coming to rescue Hunter who is now on Kamino with Crosshair. It’s obviously a trap but our heroes never leave one of their team behind. The confrontation with Crosshair is the heart of the episode and it’s quite emotional. Indeed, this time they say what they have to say to each other. The Bad Batch tries to bring Crosshair on their side while he is all about the Empire. And, there is an unexpected reveal. One that I didn’t see coming.

It’s not the only reveal we get. This episode comes with quite a few. It answers the question of why Kamino was being emptied. As usual with the Empire, it’s not for good reasons. It also answers something about the creation of The Bad Batch.

Between the introduction of the Stormtroopers last week and now that particular scene on Kamino, for me we have reached the end of the Prequel era in the timeline. The Bad Batch has fully entered the Empire era. That’s why that scene is extra emotional for us Prequel fans.

VISUALS

I talk about the visuals almost every week because it keeps impressing me. They have done it again with this episode! The rainy scenes on Kamino are absolutely breathtaking. Seeing it in 4K on Disney Plus is an absolute joy because it’s so cinematic.

SOUNDTRACK

Kevin Kiner has done a great job with the soundtrack as usual. I love that he re-used the Kamino theme from Attack of the Clones for the arrival scene on that planet. It’s a perfect fit.
