Max looks ahead to Matt Reeves‘ The Batman and shares his hopes for the definitive Dark Knight adventure
Thanks to Matt Reeves’ The Batman, the Dark Knight is rising in a few months. And I (being an Batman fanatic); demand 4 things from this gritty, dark noir detective story.

1.) Robert Pattinson fits the role!
I don’t want Robert’s Pattinson to be a sexy-pretty-boy-vampire. I am looking for a muscular, husky voiced playboy. Yes, I know that this movie takes place two years after Bruce first starts crimefighting, but I don’t want to see any traits of a teen-like visage.

2.) Lots of cool new gadgets
Gadgets are Batman’s bread and butter since he doesn’t have traditional super-powers. Over the years, we have seen so many cool stuff from things as obscure as shark repellent and jet-skates to the less niche memory cloth and Sonar radar. The classic Batarang is a MUST as well as the grappling hook and Batmobile. BUT I really want their imaginations to race and give us new stuff that we can’t even predict.

3.) Make the Riddler terrifying
I am actually happy they are starting this Batman WITHOUT the Joker. We have faced an over-saturation of Jokers in the last decades, and its best to save him for the sequel or beyond. The Riddler is a great villian to start with, and I approve of the alteration that he is a serial killer. That makes a lot of sense, due to his psychotic obsession with riddles, and I can see him leaving question marks spray painted on walls above bodies, and the caped crusader having to use his superior intelligence to figure out his riddles. He needs to be a nightmare of a human being; someone that needs to be locked away in Arkham. Forever
4.) Set up Robin’s emergence
One of the most disappointing things about the last Batman, is that Robin wasn’t really Robin. He was just a cop. Lame. I want the Boy Wonder to be hinted at at the end of this movie, and perhaps even see his traditonal red and yellow suit in the background of the Batcave, as the caped crusader always thinks ahead and probably wanted a side-kick in the future.

The Batman will release under the Warner Bros. banner and will unleash justice on Gotham City in March 2022.
