The Hasbro Star Wars team pushes the panic button and adds Malakili to the HasLab Rancor set
The Hasbro Star Wars team has pushed the panic button and added Malakili to the HasLab Rancor campaign. The Rancor Keeper was a glaring omission from the reveal a few weeks back. And fans across the globe voiced their disappointment by canceling their orders. But with the campaign countdown nearing its end and over four thousand backers needed to push the product into production, the team is scrambling to get the fans back on side.
Hasbro’s official Instagram account offered the update. But sadly, the team failed to provide any concept images for the figure. Although they did announce that the figure would be newly-tooled and would be included uncarded. Read the full post below:
HASBRO INSTAGRAM UPDATE
“We really appreciate all the feedback we’ve received in an effort to make the HasLab Rancor the best possible dream product. With that, we realize we can’t leave the most dangerous creature, the rancor, roaming the galaxy without its keeper. We will be adding a fully newly-tooled Star Wars: The Black Series Malakili figure to the base offering, funding at 9K units. Uncarded and ready for action, Malakili comes with his unique gaffi stick inspired by Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. This figure is in active development, and we will share renders as part of our backer updates if the project successfully moves into production.
This final additional figure can ONLY be added if we hit our target threshold of 9K backers before the campaign deadline (December 6, 2021). Thank you for your help in shaping this product in real-time! The fate of the HasLab Rancor project is in your hands! We hope to bring both the rancor and Malakili to our passionate fans – visit HasbroPulse.com for more details.”
RELEASE
This is a desperate move from Hasbro. The team clearly underestimated the wishes of their fans and now they are scrambling to win them over with Malakili. However, with the current unlocks failing to entice the fans already, I seriously doubt another $20 figure will convince many to back the campaign. But of course, we’ll update the post as soon as we hear more.
