“I had such a blast with this episode of The Bad Batch and it sets up the finale so perfectly,” says Max Nocerino
The Bad Batch continues to delight and excite with every episode, and we are slowly seeing a redemption for Crosshair and a raising of the stakes for Clone Force 99 which is imperative for any TV or movie series.
This week’s episode begins with Echo and his new friends, attacking an Imperial prisoner transport that is transferring three clone prisoners. The commanding officer is yet ANOTHER light-skinned human male and it makes me wonder if the real clones are the Empire’s endless supply of cruel, self-entitled jerks. The heroes board the ship in a cool way and are successful in their mission. Freeing their brothers.

TIPPING POINT
I appreciate how they still stun instead of kill, but the TK troopers aren’t clones, so why? Meanwhile, back at the evil lab, the creepy doctor Royce Hemlock is intent on locating Clone Force 99 so he can experiment on Omega. As she is a clone, Hemlock refers to her as Imperial property. Disgusting. He tries to offer Crosshair a deal. Tell him where his former teammates are and he’ll have his freedom. In the last episode, Crosshair kills the other pompous jerk iteration commanding officer and is detained and transported to a then-unknown location. Crosshair is starting to show some good inside him as he tries to warn his former friends about Hemlock and the guy really proves he is lethal if not carefully, kept….restraint. I admire his valor and ability to keep fighting even when weakened. He is a true soldier

BACK TO PABU
Clone Force 99 is still on Pabu, and Hunter struggles with a decision to stay there. Omega is so happy interacting with children her age. The people are friendly and the place is beautiful and safe. What would be a better place to raise a child away from the clutches of the Empire? However, things may not last forever and Hunter is right to worry. Especially when they get Crosshair’s distress call

VERDICT
So, will Crosshair rejoin the good side? Only time will tell. The wheels are in motion as Hemlock is not acting on his own. An even bigger fish is pulling the strings, and I also (wink, wink), got to see my crush on the other side of the offensive, trying to help the clones out, even if it means she will face treason.
I had such a blast with this episode and it sets up the pieces so perfectly. I also have to add that Hemlock is one of the creepiest bad guys I’ve seen in Star Wars for quite some time, with his cold calculating methods and sinister-sounding soft voice. He truly invokes the feel of a Nazi scientist, like the Doctor of Death, Mengele. I am bracing for a HUGE finale and very much hope we see a Season 3. 8.5 out of 10 Death Stars. Brilliant work!
