Quickfire Reviews | 'What If...Strange Supreme Intervened?'

Annlyel reviews Marvel’s What If Multiverse in WHAT IF…STRANGE SUPREME INTERVENED?

I knew I was going to enjoy the finale because, well, What If…? is an amazing show with genuinely entertaining finales. That being said, nothing could prepare me for the sheer awesomeness that would be on full display in that thrilling finale.

First off, choosing Captain Carter and Kahhori to be the primary protagonists for the finale was a great choice. Let’s face it, they’re awesome. Captain Carter is undoubtedly one of the greatest characters in the MCU. I believe she should play a role in Secret Wars whenever it arrives. Secondly, Kahhori is just so cool. Her debut episode was powerful and cemented itself as one of the best episodes in the entire series. Her power set is so fascinating. Getting to see her utilize her powers in truly exciting and innovative ways in the finale was the very definition of entertaining.

DOCTOR STRANGE SUPREME

And of course, choosing to make Doctor Strange Supreme the finale’s antagonist was something I didn’t see coming. But I loved it! Benedict Cumberbatch is an underrated voice actor. The nuances he provides to Strange Supreme in his friendly and villainous forms are delightful on the ears. He balances the dark and the light within the character, providing a caricature that feels unique to every other Strange variant that we’ve seen. It makes him feel incredibly vulnerable or powerful at times. Getting to see him use his powers in his fight against Captain Carter and Kahhori was epic, to say the least, and the conclusion to his story felt realistic and beautiful.

STRANGE ENDINGS!

Plus, I can’t ignore THAT final shot which left me with so much excitement and eagerness for the third season of What If…? which is coming sooner rather than later. Marvel Studios may have its ups and downs but this season of What If…? has solidified the animated series as one of the highlights of the franchise. The creativity and potential this show presents and how it will undoubtedly affect the franchise moving forward cannot be overstated. I can’t wait to see Marvel Studios continue to tell more intriguing, animated stories.

This show has gotten me even more pumped for the revival of one of the best-animated superhero series of all time: X-Men ’97. If it’s anything like What If…?, it’s going to be a very fun watch later this year.

Marvel’s What If…? Season 2 is now streaming on Disney Plus.
