Rapman’s Supacell has already been renewed for season 2 on Netflix. Get the lowdown on “Season 2 is when you really see what they become.”
Hold onto yourselves. Today, Netflix announced that SUPACELL will return for Season 2. Season 1 launched on 27 June, with the Guardian calling it “strikingly performed, bracingly plotted and its characters are up there with prestige TV’s finest. It’s ingenious”. Season 1 reached the number one spot in the Netflix global TV series list. It was in the global top 10 for six weeks and was in the Top 10 in 91 countries.
Showrunner, Creator and Lead Director Rapman said “I can’t wait for the world to see Supacell, Season 2. For me, season 1 was always an origin story. Season 2 is when the journey really begins. Season 1 was my Batman Begins, Season 2 is my Dark Knight”

PREMISE
SUPACELL is about a group of five ordinary people who unexpectedly develop superpowers. They have little in common except for one thing. They are all Black South Londoners. One man, Michael Lasaki, must bring them all together to save the woman he loves.

THE ANNOUNCEMENT
You don’t need time-traveling abilities to see if there’ll be more Supacell –– because Netflix has officially announced that Season 2 is on the way.
The epic story of five extraordinary South Londoners ended its first season with a heartbreaking stunner. “When I come back, they’re all gonna f*****g pay,” Michael (Tosin Cole) vows to his superpowered allies Andre (Eric Kofi Abrefa), Rodney (Calvin Demba), Sabrina (Nadine Mills), and Tazer (Josh Tedeku). The “they” Michael’s referencing are a shadowy organization that’s been stalking, manipulating, and, in some cases, killing Supacell holders.
For the show’s creator, Rapman, what comes next in the story isn’t a mystery. “I’ve always had it [mapped out] to Season 3. I know how Season 2 ends,” he told Tudum before the series premiered, adding, “I’ve got stuff planned for this story. I’ve had this in my head for years, so I’m ready to go.”

SEASON 1
Throughout Season 1 — which reached the No. 1 spot in Netflix’s global TV series list and remained in the top 10 for six weeks — Michael isn’t just a proven good guy. He’s also the anchor who brings Sabrina, Tazer, Rodney, and Andre together, just as his future self instructed him to do. While Rapman calls Michael a “warm, likeable character,” he acknowledges that the time-and-space-transcending hero’s gut-wrenching loss might change his personality. “You can have the nicest person in the world. Push that person too far, and that person has the extraordinary power? You could create something very dangerous,” he said.
Each of the five heroes has their own personal problems –– while struggling to wield a special ability –– but Rapman says they’re only getting started. “Supacell Season 1 is my Batman Begins. It’s a prequel of what they’ll be like. Season 2 is when you really see what they become. That future you saw at the end of the pilot in London, that exact future doesn’t exist anymore. They’ve changed everything. It’s going to be interesting when we get into the writers’ room.”

Supacell Season 1 is now available on Netflix. Season 2 will premiere at a future date.
