Learn about the new DC Studios animated feature film focusing on the Dynamic Duo, Robin’s early days, and their rise from young thieves to legendary crime fighters.
DC Studios’ head honcho, James Gunn, has just revealed plans for a new animated feature film focusing on Robin. The film, titled Dynamic Duo, will delve into the early days of two iconic Robins, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. It will portray their journey from young thieves to the well-known crime-fighting duo, the Dynamic Duo.
The project will utilize Momo Animation, a technology that combines stop-motion puppetry, CGI animation, and real-time live-action performance. Matt Reeves will produce the film through his company, 6th & Idaho, in collaboration with the new animation studio Swaybox, founded by the husband-and-wife team Arthur Mintz and Theresa Andersson. Mintz will serve as the director for the movie.

“I have wanted to make a film with Arthur and Swaybox for many years, and for that film to be Dynamic Duo, an incredibly special and unique Batman and Robin story for families, is a dream,” says Reeves in a statement.
Speaking on Twitter James Gunn says “Over the moon excited to announce the newest DC Studios/Warner Bros Pictures Animation greenlit film for theaters, DYNAMIC DUO, the story of Robin… or should I say, Robins, as in Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. The first feature film from the visionary Swaybox, a mix of animation, puppetry, and CGI, a script from the wonderfully talented Matt Aldrich, produced with our partners at Matt Reeves’ 6th & Idaho. This is something special.”
RELEASE
Regrettably, Gunn has not yet confirmed an official release date for the film. Nonetheless, he has announced that the film will have a full theatrical release, which is quite bold. It’s rare for DC animated films to hit the big screen. The Dynamic Duo appears ready to embark on an exceptional project, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. However, the big question remains: can these iconic Robins navigate the mean streets of Gotham City without the guidance of the Dark Knight? Will they hold their own against the supercriminals infesting the city? All will be unveiled in the coming months.
