Carrie Fisher is immortalised in Hasbro’s Black Series range thanks to cutting-edge facial recognition software
Target’s newest exclusive action figure from Hasbro’s Black Series line is Princess Leia in her Bespin Escape outfit from The Empire Strikes Back! It’s the fourth version of this character to arrive in the Black Series collection with another set to arrive in the form of a non-exclusive – Leia (Hoth) later in the year.
Previously Leia figures had a huge problem with recreating our beloved Carrie Fisher‘s likeness. However, this new incarnation is using the cutting edge digital face print technology, plus she has a brand new sculpt and that makes all the difference. It’s without a doubt the best Leia figure we’ve ever received from Hasbro. Hasbro has surpassed S.H. Figuarts here, they have done a mini Hot Toys! It’s a miniature of Carrie Fisher! I think it’s a very good sign for collectors because it shows how Hasbro is striving to improve on quality! Hopefully, what they can improve on next is the accessories (including interchangeable hands).
Speaking of accessories, and Leia comes only with an E-11 blaster, the basic Imperial blaster. As it’s an exclusive and thus far more expensive for us Europeans to import, I had hoped she would come with more than just a single blaster. In the movie, with that suit we only see her with that blaster but they could have included a damaged C-3PO that would go well with a Chewbacca figure or even a section of the carbon-freezing chamber as a stand (like the Target Luke Skywalker from The Last Jedi which came with a stand recreating the terrain of Ahch-To).

Final Thoughts:
Leia’s Bespin Escape suit is very simple, it’s a white suit and Hasbro has recreated it in screen accurate way! About the size, she’s also accurate compared to Han Solo (Bespin).
For fans of Leia, it’s a must-have and simply the best version of the character ever produced in the Black Series line!

“Reproductions” such as this make a person slightly less paranoid about the accuracy of facial recognition.
