Ron Perlman joins Steven Caple Jr’s Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts as Optimus Primal

Ron Perlman is ready to roll out for Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts. We are hearing that the Hellboy legend has joined the cast of the latest Transformers adventure. What’s more, Perlman has officially signed on to reprise his role as OPTIMUS PRIMAL. The leader of the Manimals.

Ron Perlman Cast as Optimus Primal

Perlman voiced the character in the Transformers: Power of the Primes animated series. But this represents the first time the character will grace the big screen and Hasbro/Paramount are eager to maintain continuity. Primal is the captain of the spaceship Axalon and is a fierce and seasoned warrior.

Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts will take place in 1994, and will feature a glorious array of breathtaking locations. Director Steven Caple Jr. has promised to deliver a movie true to the Beast Wars storyline. And his take on the property will feature the Manimals engaging in battle with their arch enemies – The Predacons.

“The Predacons in our film are more reptilian in nature. We’ve seen a few in other Transformers films, but, we get to see another side of them,” said Caple. “It’s all about building a backstory to these characters, and we’ll see that more on the Predacon and Terracon side.”
