Look out Ray Harryhausen fans because Star Ace Toys is bringing Naga The Snake Woman from The 7th Voyage of Sinbad to the X-Plus Collection. After unveiling a mindblowing statue of Ray Harryhausen’s Mighty Joe Young, the toy giant has set its sights on Ray’s enchanting siren from the classic 1958 movie. And as expected, the results are breathtaking. In the film, Sadi, the devoted handmaiden of Princess Parisa is transformed into a half-human half-snake aberration by Sokurah the magician. However, the spell takes a sinister turn when Sadi’s reptilian tail begins to choke her forcing the sinister sorcerer to break the enchantment.
THE STATUE
The Snake Woman is one of Ray Harryhausen’s finest creations. And now, Star Ace Toys has replicated her majesty in all her glory. The 11.8″ tall soft vinyl statue features the character in one of her seductive poses from the film. Which is complimented by an impressive Persian rug-themed base. But as is always the case, Star Ace Toys have upped the ante by crafting a second “Deluxe” version. And that boasts a background diorama of the Sultan’s Palace. Read on for the full details.
RAY HARRYHAUSEN’S SNAKE WOMAN
In mythology, the Naga were beings that could be either human, serpents or something in between. Ray Harryhausen created this dancing Snake Woman and her fluid movements are a testament to his mastery of stop-motion puppetry.
Star Ace has recreated the Harryhausen puppet as a 30cm tall soft vinyl statue, posed in mid-dance with her four snake-like arms extended in all directions. The lower snake portion of her body is detailed with a realistic snakeskin texture, and she sits on a base that simulates the exotic carpet of the sultan’s palace.
The Deluxe version also comes with a backdrop that represents the walls of the palace to complete the diorama.
