The awards season of 2023 is finally over with the handing out of the Academy Awards. But did your favorite manage to take home an Oscar? Find out here!
Stick a fork in it, awards season is done! The traditional curtain closer, the Academy Awards have been handed out in Hollywood. And what a great night it was. We had a few surprises along the way with some of the winners. And we had fun at the expense of specific ‘big names’ who didn’t even attend the show. We even had an In Memorium segment which brought announcer John Travolta understandably to tears. But when all was said and done, Oscar went home with the deserving winners. Let’s run down precisely who won what.
BEST PICTURE-EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE
The biggest winner of the night, scooping seven out of its eleven nominations. The absurdist comedy-drama film dominated the awards from the start. The legendary Harrison Ford read out the announcement and then had a wonderful reunion onstage with Ke Huy Quan some thirty-nine years after the pair starred in Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom.
BEST DIRECTOR-DAN KWAN & DANIEL SCHEINERT
The pair (known as ‘The Daniels’) jointly scooped the best director prize for their brilliant direction of Everything Everywhere All At Once.
BEST ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE-BRENDAN FRASER (THE WHALE)
Brendan Fraser won what was a much-deserved Oscar for his portrayal of Charlie, a morbidly obese and reclusive English professor in The Whale. The award brought Fraser back fully into the Hollywood fold after many years in the wilderness due to well-documented events, gaining him the win in his first-ever Oscar nomination.
BEST ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE-MICHELLE YEOH (EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE)
The veteran actress, in her first-ever Oscar nomination, beat out the favorite Cate Blanchett to take home the best actress prize.
BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE-JAMIE LEE CURTIS (EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE)
“Oh Shut Up!” the actress shouted as her name was read out. Her first-ever Oscar nomination earned her a win, the actress paid tribute to her family, friends, work colleagues, and fans in a tearful, emotional acceptance speech.
BEST ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE-KE HUY QUAN (EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE)
