THE UK TOP TEN TITLES

This week, two re-entries and one new entry have been added to the chart. To make way for these titles, it is the end of the line for Nosferatu, Twisters and Kraven The Hunter. And we have a brand new number one title. What could it be? Time to find out.

SAD TRUE EVENTS SEE US ENTER THE CONCLAVE

According to Official Charts Company data, Conclave saw a 600% UK sales uplift week-on-week to reach Number 1 on the Official Film Chart for the first time following Pope Francis’s death. The plot of the 2024 Edward Berger-directed political thriller, starring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, and Isabella Rossellini, centres around the conclave, where cardinals gather to elect a new Pope. The conclave reveals hidden secrets and internal conflicts within the Church.

This week, Conclave surges to the Official Film Chart summit in its 17th week, having peaked at Number 2 for three non-consecutive weeks. The film’s surge in home entertainment comes ahead of the upcoming papal conclave, set to begin at the Sistine Chapel, Vatican City, on May 7.

Martin Talbot, Chief Executive Officer, Official Charts (who compile the UK’s EST/VOD/physical sales data for films), says:

“As the nation has been mourning the sad death of Pope Francis, it has clearly also been keen to understand the process of appointing his successor – the result being a big surge of sales of Conclave over the past week. The six-fold increase in digital and physical sales is extraordinary, making it a worthy Number 1 in the Official Film Chart.”

BRIDGET JONES IS STILL MAD ABOUT THE BOY!

The final film in the franchise, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, moves up to Number 2.

THE CHART GETS SOME MARCHING POWDER!

THAT’S ALL, FOLKS!
