Annie Wersching has joined the cast of Star Trek: Picard Season 2 as the Borg Queen!
Red alert, and all hands to battle stations because the Borg Queen is returning for Star Trek: Picard Season 2. Although portrayed by Alice Krige in Star Trek: First Contact, Paramount has announced that Annie Wersching will be slipping into the Borg implants this time around. Wersching is no stranger to the Star Trek universe after a successful spell in Star Trek: Enterprise. However, she is mostly renowned for her time on shows like The Vampire Diaries, Timeless, and Runaways. But this will be the first time she ventures into the final frontier to be assimilated by The Borg.

ALL HAIL THE QUEEN
This is somewhat of a shock casting by Paramount. Most fans would have expected Alice Krige to return to the collective. Or even for Susanna Thompson who played her in multiple episodes of Star Trek: Voyager to slip back into the implants. But Paramount has decided on a complete recasting. Which is a bizarre move. That being said, with her acting credentials there for all to see, Wersching will be a welcome addition to the franchise.

SEASON 2
Of course, this all lends weight to an already substantial plotline for Picard Season 2. Paramount has already confirmed the welcome return of Q (John de Lancie) Picard’s oldest enemy who first introduced the crew of the Enterprise to Borg in Star Trek: The Next Generation. So it seems only fitting that The Borg and their Queen will feature in the events of season 2.

What part will The Borg have to play in Season 2? Are you excited to see the Queen return? Leave a comment in the section below. We’d love to hear from you!
