Snap to attention! The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare is coming to recruit you! The film, directed, co-written and co-produced by Guy Ritchie, is hitting Prime Video on July 25th. Henry Cavill leads an ensemble cast including Eiza González, Alan Ritchson, Henry Golding and Alex Pettyfer. Cary Elwes and Rory Kinnear also feature in this heavily fictionalised version of Operation Postmaster. An operation that occurred during WWII. The film is based on the 2014 book Churchill’s Secret Warriors: The Explosive True Story of the Special Forces Desperadoes of WWII by Damien Lewis.

The movie opened in the United States back in April, courtesy of Lionsgate. While they got to enjoy the film on the big screen, selected international distribution rights were sold to Amazon Prime Video. This robbed fans of Guy Ritchie from seeing his latest movie the way it was intended. Despite positive critical reviews, the film earned $25.8 million against a budget of $60 million. Selected territories will be able to see the film finally when it premieres on the streaming service.

THE PREMISE

Based upon recently declassified files of the British War Department and inspired by true events. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is an action-comedy, that tells the story of the first-ever special forces organization formed during WWII by UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill. And a small group of military officials, including author Ian Fleming. The top-secret combat unit, composed of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks, goes on a daring mission against the Nazis using entirely unconventional and utterly “ungentlemanly” fighting techniques. Ultimately their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British SAS and modern Black Ops warfare.

Directed by Guy Ritchie. Starring Henry Cavill, Eiza González, Alan Ritchson. Alex Pettyfer, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Babs Olusanmokun. Henrique Zaga, Til Schweiger, with Henry Golding, and Cary Elwes
