A scream is a wish your heart makes! Signature Entertainment has shared a new poster for the upcoming Mickey Mouse slasher, Screamboat. The Disney-inspired horror film is turning the beloved mouse into a new horror icon, and the knives are out! The film is a horror-themed take on Mickey’s first-ever animated appearance and aims to turn his debut adventure into a living nightmare for its cast. But before we get into the juicy details, let’s check out the new poster below.

Mickey Mouse Slasher Horror Screamboat - Official Poster

STEAMBOAT SLASHER!

Fans of The House of Mouse might be surprised to see a horror-themed version of Mickey Mouse, especially considering his deep connections to Disney. However, the rights to the character became public domain in early 2024. This means fans should prepare for an influx of Disney-inspired horror content. With that in mind, Screambaot is recruiting some of the brightest talents from the horror genre to create this new slasher film.

David Howard Thornton, who plays Art the Clown in the Terrifier movies and took on a creepy version of the Grinch in The Mean One, stars as the horror version of Steamboat Willie. He’s got some great company in the cast. His co-stars include Allison Pittel from Stream, Amy Schumacher from The Mean One, Jesse Posey from Teen Wolf, Jesse Kove from Cobra Kai, Rumi C. Jean-Louis from Hightown, Jarlath Conroy from George A. Romero’s Day of the Dead, and Charles Edwin Powell from The Exorcist III.

SYNOPSIS

Screamboat will tell the story of “a mischievous mouse that stalks a group of New Yorkers on a late night ferry ride, unleashing murderous mayhem on a relaxing commute. Can the ship’s motley crew of travelers find a way to stop a killer creature who has developed a taste for tourists?”

Having seen the film, I am glad to report that Signature has another runaway hit on its hands. The film is a blast and deserves to be enjoyed on the big screen. Sadly, the embargo prevents me from adding my views on the film. But you can check out my social reactions to the film here. Thankfully, the embargo lifts on Monday, March 31st, so check back for our full review.
