Look out, Marvel fans, because Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider is riding in to cleanse your soul in cinemas in July 2028.
It’s been a minute since we’ve heard any fresh details about Marvel’s Ghost Rider. Since the project was announced to thunderous applause at San Diego Comic-Con, Ryan Gosling and Shawn Levy have had their sights firmly set on their next big project, Star Wars: Starfighter. Even Disney’s D23 Expo this past weekend was relatively light on Ghost Rider news, with X-Men, Avengers: Doomsday, and VisionQuest stealing much of the Marvel spotlight.
But now that the dust has settled on D23’s biggest reveals, Marvel has delivered a fiery surprise. Disney has officially dated Ghost Rider for July 28, 2028, meaning Ryan Gosling’s Spirit of Vengeance will finally roar into theaters in just under two years. That’s right, Ghost Rider is officially on the road, and Marvel’s iconic Spirit of Vengeance has a date with the big screen. Better yet, the announcement gives us a much clearer picture of Marvel’s packed 2028 movie slate.
If you’re keeping track, Ghost Rider will be the third Marvel movie scheduled to hit theaters that year. The new X-Men movie will kick things off on May 5, 2028, followed by Ghost Rider on July 28. Then, Black Panther 3 will bring the year to a close on December 15, 2028. Three MCU movies in a single year? Now that’s a calendar worth circling.

WILL SUPERHERO FATIGUE RETURN?
Three major releases per year have long been part of Marvel Studios’ playbook. In recent years, however, the studio has eased off the accelerator, partly in response to concerns over superhero oversaturation and a perceived dip in quality. Now, that familiar three-movie template looks set to return with a vengeance in 2028. We can only hope Kevin Feige’s promise of quality over quantity holds true, because X-Men, Ghost Rider, and Black Panther III have the potential to make 2028 a banner year for the MCU.
If Marvel manages to get all three across the finish line in spectacular fashion, the studio could silence plenty of its critics. But if even one or two stumble, those familiar arguments will inevitably return, and talk of superhero fatigue could once again dominate the conversation.

RELEASE
Either way, 2028 is shaping up to be another bumper year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Following Avengers: Doomsday this Christmas, Marvel’s theatrical slate goes quiet until Avengers: Secret Wars arrives on December 17, 2027. By the time the dust settles on the Multiverse Saga, fans could be more than ready for the next chapter.
Perhaps that’s exactly what Kevin Feige is banking on. Give audiences a little breathing room, let the anticipation build, and then unleash X-Men, Ghost Rider, and Black Panther III on the box office in 2028. If Marvel gets the balance right, that could be one hell of a comeback. No matter which side of the superhero fence you stand on, 2028 is shaping up to be an epic year for the MCU. You can either jump aboard the hype train or get out of the way, because this one is already gathering serious momentum!
