NEW RELEASES

After unleashing new episodes of the sensational new series The Westies, you might expect MGM+ to ease off the gas and give viewers a breather. But you’d be wrong! Far from slowing down, the streamer’s carefully curated September lineup arrives with plenty of late-summer heat, packing the schedule with fresh content designed to keep audiences firmly planted on the sofa.

This month brings a fantastic selection of new releases, kicking off with the debut season of Jon Hamm’s hotly anticipated new series, American Hostage. Based on the acclaimed scripted podcast, the gripping thriller follows the harrowing true story of Fred Heckman, a beloved Indianapolis radio reporter whose life is suddenly plunged into a terrifying, life-or-death crisis.

But September’s biggest headline act comes from the world of Outlander. That’s right, the long-awaited continuation of the beloved saga is finally here! The second season of Outlander: Blood of My Blood makes its streaming debut on September 19, promising another intoxicating blend of romance, drama, danger, and time-jumping adventure.

NEW ADDITIONS TO THE MGM+ LIBRARY

But thankfully, the fun doesn’t stop there! MGM+ is rolling out a packed slate of new additions throughout the month, and it’s loaded with Hollywood heavyweights. Kicking things off is John Cleese’s comedy classic A Fish Called Wanda, followed later in the month by Lions for Lambs, a few laughs with Bottoms, and Luca Guadagnino’s haunting romantic horror film Bones and All, starring Timothée Chalamet.

And if you’re looking to saddle up and head back to the Old West as those cooler autumnal nights begin to roll in, MGM+ has you covered. From Clint Eastwood’s legendary Western classics to the epic gunslinging adventures of The Magnificent Seven, there’s more than enough cowboy action to make your September nights go off with a bang… and a sarsaparilla or two!

So, grab the snacks, clear the schedule, and settle in. September on MGM+ is shaping up to be another month packed with blockbuster entertainment, classic favorites, and plenty of reasons to keep that remote within arm’s reach!

REVIEW

We had an absolute blast with this phenomenal series. In my FOUR-STAR REVIEW, I said: “The Institute is an absolute triumph. The series delivers a wonderfully layered, rich, compelling, and entertaining adaptation of King’s novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat for weeks to come. With its impressive performances by its three leads and the masterwork of Bender behind the camera, the series is an engrossing slow burn. Bender doesn’t waste a second of Benjamin Cavell’s expertly layered screenplay and uses the material to build the tension as each episode progresses. The series ends with a wonderfully weighted climax that will delight and tantalize the audience with the potential of what lies ahead. In the end, the series delivers a thoroughly enjoyable eight-episode rollercoaster ride of edge-of-your-seat suspense that will leave its mark — a hallmark of a great thriller. Read my review here.
