The Hot Toys Rey (The Rise Of Skywalker) is the ultimate Rey figure. If you’re a sequel trilogy fan, don’t wait, pick her up as soon as possible!
Hot Toys released their Rey figure from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker a few months ago in Hong Kong. Now, it’s finally available at Sideshow Collectibles.
BOX ART AND ACCESSORIES
The box has the usual design for Star Wars collectibles boxes – black with a picture of the figure and the Star Wars logo. The colored strip for The Rise of Skywalker figures is blue and grey. In that line, you can also find Kylo Ren, the Sith Trooper; the First Order Jet Trooper, and the Sith Jet Trooper. For these figures, they also brought back the additional picture at the back of the box. So far, Hot Toys had only done it for The Last Jedi figures.
Rey comes with a lot of accessories and more than what was first announced. It’s Hot Toys’ biggest surprise in years (at least for Star Wars fans). She comes with the Skywalker’s lightsaber hilt, an additional hilt to attach to her belt; a blue blade, an action blue blade, interchangeable hands; a training helmet, a training droid with a stand, her satchel. Her staff, her blaster pistol, D-O, the piece of clothing in which she buries Leia’s and Luke’s lightsabers; her lightsaber, a yellow blade, and an action yellow blade, and a display base.
Since The Rise of Skywalker is my favorite movie of the Sequel Trilogy, I can tell you I was happy with this! In terms of accessories, it’s the ultimate Rey figure!
THE LIGHTSABERS
Each lightsaber is beautifully sculpted with vibrant colors. Rey’s lightsaber also has subtle weathering. It looks great! You can recreate the scene when Rey buries her master’s lightsabers. The piece of fabric that is included is so soft. Even for something as simple as that, Hot Toys chose good quality fabric! If you want to recreate the “I am all the Jedi.” scene, you do need an extra normal blade because the figure only comes with one normal blade and one action blade (for the blue lightsabers).
Rey’s satchel uses faux leather. It also has nice weathering, it’s really as if there was dirt on it. However, you can’t open the satchel, it always stays closed.
TRAINING GEAR
I love the training gear. The helmet is taking inspiration from the A-Wing pilots helmet with different colors and a visor. As for the training droid, it’s the same that came with Luke Skywalker (A New Hope) but it’s painted in red. Finally, the display base features a sandy environment. It’s the usual piece of plastic on which they printed sand and then they glued it to the base. I would have preferred a sculpted sandy base like it has been done before.
D-O
D-O is a nice addition to the droid collection. He is so tiny like in the movie. Hot Toys has done a beautiful job with the weathering and battle damage. It actually feels like he’s been there for a long time. He can stand on the display base thanks to magnets. The figure has two points of articulation – the head and the wheel.
THE FIGURE
The figure is absolutely fantastic! It is my favorite Rey outfit. I love the choice of color. Plus, the hood gives her an added Jedi vibe. The subtle weathering done on the outfit is really nice. The arm warp is there to cover her scar from The Last Jedi.
Because she has seamless arms, she has limited articulation. That means you have to display her in a neutral position. Otherwise, the arms will be damaged quickly. You can pose her for toy photography or fun but don’t leave her like that for display. For the legs though, it is not a problem as it is like other figures.
THE HEADSCULPT
This is a brand new headsculpt. It was made by Kim Hwan and painted by JC Hong and E-Lee. It’s fantastic work. You can recognize Daisy Ridley there. Though, I would say Rey’s best headsculpt remains The Force Awakens ones.
