Welcome to The Official UK Box Office Top Ten.
This weekend at the UK box office, Star Wars returns to cinemas for the first time in nearly seven years, alongside three other new entries, with one studio dominating the charts, and Indian cinema continuing to pique audience interest. Read on to find out if The Mandalorian And Grogu captivated cinemagoers, which studio is currently on top, and more. Keep your helmet on and find your new Obsession with this weekend’s top ten.
(1) Star Wars: The Mandalorian And Grogu
The Mandalorian and Grogu is the subject of much box-office interest, especially as this is the first Star Wars film back in cinemas since 2019’s Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, and it’s an indicator of how much cachet the franchise still holds with general audiences. In the UK at least, the picture isn’t great, as The Mandalorian And Grogu opened to £5,291,385, even below the inflation-unadjusted opening for 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story of £6,061,231. The Mandalorian and Grogu’s opening looks like chump change when compared to the opening of the last Star Wars film, The Rise of Skywalker, which was £20,864,500. The film has a lot of ground to cover.

(2) Michael
Holding steady in second place, Michael keeps audiences engaged in its fifth weekend, pulling in another £1,781,990. Its total is £44,292,051, with it likely to reach £50 million before it bows out. This is also the first of four Universal films in the top ten, a testament to their strong slate.
(3) Obsession
Audiences are obsessed with Obsession; its total only fell by four percent in its second weekend, taking in £1,284,749. This was enough to help it gain a position in the top ten rankings, up one from the previous weekend. This is a phenomenal hold, even taking into account the ever-so-slight cinema expansion, with it now playing in 506 sites, up from 482. Distributor Universal will be happy with this, as well as director Curry Barker.
(4) The Devil Wears Prada 2
Taking a tumble from its previous second-place finish, The Devil Wears Prada 2 brings in £1,149,500 in its fourth weekend of release. This isn’t as bad as it looks, as the film has been playing well on weekdays, with a total gross to date of £30,209,206.

(5) Drishyam 3
Drishyam 3, an Indian film, opens at £835,968. The movie is the third installment of the Drishyam film series, and follows Georgekutty as his life unfolds four-and-a-half years after the events of the previous film. Despite opening in fewer cinemas than any other film on this list (only 260), Drishyam 3 has captured audience attention and shows that Indian films continue to find fertile ground in the UK.
(6) The Sheep Detectives
The Sheep Detectives finds itself at the number six spot, despite being at number three last weekend. In its third weekend, the film brought in £538,088, a steep 61% drop from last weekend’s takings. Following a flock of sheep after their shepherd is killed, the sheep take it upon themselves to solve the mystery of his death.

(7) Passenger
A new release from distributor Paramount, Passenger, opens to £335,756. The film follows a young couple, Tyler and Maddie, who quit their lives to live in a van on the open road. Their dream turns into a nightmare when they witness a gruesome highway accident and inadvertently pick up a demonic entity.
(8) Finding Emily
Universal’s third film in the weekend top ten, Finding Emily, opens to £212,752. Starring Spike Fearn as Owen, a lovestruck musician who gets his dream girl’s number on a night out but realizes it is missing a digit, so teams up with fellow student Emily on a campus-wide adventure to find her.
(9) The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
The final Universal film for this weekend, The Super Mario Movie, brings in £121,386 in its eighth weekend. Its impressive run in the top ten demonstrates the power of positive family movies, with its overall gross approaching £40 million to date.

(10) The Christophers
Rounding out the top ten is the second weekend of The Christophers with £115,477, down 71% from its opening. The film follows Michaela Coel as Lori Butler, a forger hired by the family of artist Julian Sklar (played by Ian McKellen) to complete his artwork so they can inherit after Julian passes.
This weekend sees the release of the A24 thriller Backrooms and the 25th-anniversary 4 K restoration rerelease of Legally Blonde.
