Batman Returns AGAIN! | Michael Keaton Expected to Don the Batsuit in 'The Flash'

Keaton will reportedly return as Bruce Wayne and will suit up as Batman again!

This week, Batman fans were thrown into delirium when news emerged that Michael Keaton was set to return to the DC Universe to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman from Batman and Batman Returns.

Keaton is arguably the greatest actor to ever don the cape and cowl, and his participation in The Flash is a tantalizing prospect, but what role will Keaton’s iconic Dark Knight play in proceedings? In recent days, rumors have surfaced suggesting that Keaton would be portraying Thomas Wayne, Bruce Wayne’s father, but there has been nothing substantial to support this theory. However, the latest newsletter from THR has revealed new details that are sure to delight the fanbase.

Batman Returns - Michael Keaton

As the headline suggests, Michael Keaton will indeed be reprising the role of Bruce Wayne in The Flash and IS expected to don the cape and cowl once again. The Flash is expected to boast a “Flashpoint” storyline that will follow Ezra Miller’s Scarlet Speedster into the past to prevent the murder of his mother. His actions are expected to inadvertently see the formation of a multiverse which is where Keaton’s Dark Knight comes into play.

Bruce Wayne is expected to slip into the role of a mentor to The Flash and is expected to assume the role of the “Nick Fury” of the DC Universe – bringing characters and storylines together in a shared Multiverse. Moving forward, the Flashpoint storyline will be the perfect way to unify what has become a splintered universe following the divisive reaction to the theatrical release of the Justice League and the retirement of Ben Affleck as Batman. The Flash looks set to bring the wider DC Multiverse into the mainstream which will inevitably pave the way for multiple versions of the characters we love to manifest in the same universe, which is where the existence of Robert Pattinson‘s Batman comes in.

This could be a masterstroke from Warner Bros. and DC. With the DC universe screaming out for continuity – the Flashpoint storyline could bring the entire universe together in one fell swoop. This would allow Pattinson’s Dark Knight to debut alongside Henry Cavill‘s Superman and Gal Gadot‘s Wonder Woman somewhere down the line and opens up the possibility of Michael Keaton’s Batman to cross paths with Superman – and that is damn exciting!

The Flash is set to be directed by Andy Muschietti is expected to enter into production in spring 2021, with a June 3, 2022 release.
