Star Wars The Clone Wars 001

Sources suggest The Clone Wars alumni will be returning to her animated roots in The Bad Batch

With so much activity going on behind the closed turbo-shaft doors at Lucasfilm, it’s hard to stay on top of all the series’ being put into production. With The Mandalorian enjoying a stellar second season and shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Cassian Andor, and a rumored Boba Fett series all nearing the assembly line – there has never been a better time to be a  Star Wars fan.

However, one series that has been strangely quiet of late is the upcoming animated series ‘The Bad Batch‘. Following the adventures of Clone Force 99, the series follows the Bad Batch as they integrate with the restructured forces of the Galactic Empire. Little more is known about the series, but a new rumor has suggested the sensational return of a familiar face.

Cinelinx is reporting that Bo-Katan Kryze – fresh off the back of making her live-action debut in The Mandalorian will be making a triumphant return to the animated genre.

Here’s the rumor:

On top of getting her live-action debut in The Mandalorian Chapter 11, Bo-Katan will return to her animated roots as well! At this point in the Star Wars timeline, this would be shortly after her role in the Siege of Mandalore (seen in the final season of The Clone Wars) and well before she took hold of the Darksaber in Star Wars Rebels.

It’s a relatively unexplored time, could definitely help fill in some gaps about what exactly happened to Mandalore during the age of the Empire. How exactly that all ties into The Bad Batch and what those specialized Clone soldiers are up to, hard to say. Perhaps it has something to do with the titular Clones seeking out their original, Mandalorian, heritage after feeling listless in the wake of the Clone Wars.

Now, as much as I adore Bo-Katan in both The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, her sensational debut in live-action form has left me thirsty for more, and I’d love to see her return in future episodes. Believe me when I say that a series following the travails of Bo-Katan and the Night Owls will at the very top of my wishlist after a Boba Fett series – however, given the story arc of The Mandalorian Season 2, I fully expect their respective stories to merge resulting in Boba Fett being crowned as ruler of Mandalore.

This story arc played out to perfection in the original Expanded Universe novels and would be the perfect redemption story for Boba Fett. Even though Bo-Katan played no part in the original storyline, this would be the perfect vehicle to bring the arcs together and give Mandalore the reunification it deserves. Whether my theory comes to fruition remains to be seen – but it’s going to a helluva lot of fun finding out.

This is the way!
