The D23 Expo uses the Force to blow our minds with an abundance of Star Wars: The Last Jedi content

Details about the upcoming Star Wars sequel, The Last Jedi have been scarce up until now, but when taking to the stage at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California this year Disney/Lucasfilm came armed to the teeth.

With all the fabulous summer blockbusters filling our screens and the brand-new Star Wars: Forces of Destiny animated series demanding our attention, one can be forgiven for forgetting that the biggest blockbuster of them all is only a few short months away.

The eighth instalment of the Star Wars saga, directed by Rian Johnson blew the fans minds at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando back in April when the long-awaited teaser trailer was revealed to the world. It opened a proverbial Pandora’s box of questions and the fans reacted with a mixture of excitement, anguish and enthusiasm. The delirium was incredible. We finally heard Luke Skywalker’s first line of dialogue in almost forty years and endured the pain of seeing our beloved Leia Organa, the late great Carrie Fisher emerge onto the screen.

It was as memorable as it was emotional.

In the months that followed, and with the fan base longing for a full theatrical trailer, all eyes fell upon Disney’s D23 Expo in hopes of it being unveiled to the world, but this time around Lucasfilm are keeping us on the edge of our seats. Instead of a trailer, we were treated to a never before seen behind-the-scenes video that detailed the production of Episode VIII and gave us our first real look at the world Rian Johnson has created for us to explore.

I know right!!

If that wasn’t enough to tantalise and tease us, we were treated to a handful of new character posters which included, at long last…a LUKE SKYWALKER poster. One of the major detractions from The Force Awakens back in 2015, was the omission of a Mark Hamill poster alongside the other saga stalwarts of Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher.

I think it’s safe to say that Lucasfilm, have finally corrected that injustice and his long-awaited Luke Skywalker poster has been released alongside Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren, Poe Dameron and finally General Leia Organa.

With this abundance of new content, we can be forgiven for allowing our excitement levels to grow exponentially and the wait until December 15th will be an arduous one. But, with the Force on our side I am sure we can endure it.

Is it really time for the Jedi to end?

The clock is ticking!
