Product Review | Star Wars: Tru Moo Blue Milk

Max detours into a galaxy far, far away to review the famous Star Wars Tru Moo Blue Milk—a beverage fit for May the 4th!

One of the most iconic fictional food products made for the Star Wars universe was the signature blue milk that Luke Skywalker drank on his homeworld of Tatooine. The fact that it was blue made it seem almost mysterious and otherworldly. There is no naturally occurring blue milk on Earth. As Star Wars fans are generally ravenous about lore, the blue milk (while it only appeared for a brief moment) would almost become synonymous with the franchise. Blue Milk popped up in many additional Star Wars media over the years.

Blue milk was used as an in-universe product advertisement in Star Wars Rebels. Its cousin, green milk, was seen in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Finally, an alcoholic version was recently used in The Bad Batch Season 3. Blue milk was here to stay, and I could quickly write an opinion piece to speculate on why people in the galaxy like milk so much.

MAY THE FOURTH

In honor of Star Wars Day 2024, the EARTH brand blue milk has finally arrived. Let me explain. Ahead of May 4th, famous dairy brand Tru Moo has released a milk product with blue coloring in honor of this quirky and unusual idea for a limited amount of time. I found the milk in my local Stop n Shop on April 27th (10 days after its official release). I felt all the good feelings of nerd glee as I poured myself a glass. Tru Moo made this concoction distinct by adding vanilla flavoring to the milk (in addition to the blue food coloring).

To my taste buds, it had a mild milkshake flavor. I have a good sense of subtle tastes and feel it hits the mark. It was not as sugary or thick as a milkshake but had a slightly thicker consistency and a hint of vanilla flavor. It tasted pretty good, and I’m glad I bought it.

HOMAGE

This was a cute homage to the franchise. While I admit that buying this milk was purely psychological for me, anyone who loves Star Wars and likes to drink milk should try it. My sister even tried it, and she hates Star Wars! While typing this post, I wondered if Luke Skywalker’s version had the same great taste as I sipped a glass of milk. I doubt, however, that his was pasteurized.

Blue Milk is only sold by the Tru Moo brand. It is available for a limited time in certain supermarkets across the United States. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any information on how to purchase it. The Tru Moo Store Locator was not helpful in this regard, so I stumbled upon it by chance. I hope you will, too. May the Force be with you in your quest to find this product!

Happy Star Wars Day, Force Friends. Whatever you’re drinking, May the Force be with you!
