Black Series Review: Rio Durant | Solo: A Star Wars Story

Tobias Beckett’s Ardennian pilot arrives to inject some awesomeness into your Star Wars Black Series collection…

Hasbro’s newest wave of Black Series action figures includes Rio Durant, Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard), Leia (Hoth) and Dengar. With each new figure, I’m even more impressed by what they do with the Black Series and this new wave is exquisite! Unlike Rogue One and The Last Jedi, we now have all the main characters from Solo: A Star Wars Story (Dryden Vos will be released in 2019), so that’s two thumbs up!

Rio Durant is so excellent, it’s difficult for me to find the right words to talk about it. The figure, the face sculpt, everything about it is a wonder! The face is spot on, it’s so detailed! It’s an amazing combination of a well-made sculpt and the use of the newest digital print technology!

As for the figure itself, it has 23 points of articulation and the four arms have been well sculpted in a way that allows each arm to move the way you want it. The suit is screen accurate, it has this genuine pilot feel that I love!

Final Thoughts:

Rio comes with two blasters, the smaller one can be placed in his holster. This figure would have been perfect if the accessories included were the right ones. We don’t see him using the longer blaster in this outfit during the movie. Instead, on Vandor, he uses a pair of the same blaster so I would have preferred Hasbro to have included two of the same blaster instead. That’s a small detail but I think it’s worth mentioning and that’s basically the only thing I can complain about on this figure!

The crew of Solo is now complete with this Rio Durant figure! It’s a must-have for Star Wars fans, simply an incredible figure!
