The Rise of Skywalker | D23 "Special Look" Trailer

The story of a generation comes to an end. Watch the incredible new D23 Star Wars footage featuring “Dark Rey”

Despite the unveiling of the all-new Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker poster, the unfortunate Star Wars fans unable to attend Disney’s D23 Expo this year were forced to sit outside like Oliver Twist while the lucky few watched new footage from J.J Abrams’ finale of the Skywalker saga.

New Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Poster Gives Us Our First Look at Emperor Palpatine

Whispers of images of Rey holding a double-bladed lightsaber permeated the social media channels and sent fans into delirium at the prospect of our newest hope falling prey to the dark side of the force. In short, the footage sounded glorious!

Despite the sizzle reel failing to make it to the wires, Lucasfilm representatives promised that the footage would be broadcast to the world this coming Monday, and thankfully, they made good on their promise. The two-minute reel has been revealed and you can watch it below in all its glory:

Wow. That was breathtaking and the infamous voiceover of Emperor Palpatine is more than enough to send a shiver down the spine!

With every new clip, TV Spot and trailer, our insatiable appetite for The Rise of Skywalker content continues to grow. And with the Emperor returning to tempt our heroes to the dark side we are set for an almighty rollercoaster ride when the movie hits our screens this December. Will Rey fall to the dark side? Will Emperor Palpatine have the last laugh? Only J.J Abrams knows! But one thing for sure is that December cannot come quick enough.

Until then, we can all look forward to the debut of The Mandalorian on Disney+ this November.
