Star Wars: A Luke & Leia Adventure: A Choose Your Destiny Chapter Book | By Cavan Scott

This is the first choose your own adventure book I’ve read. For those not familiar with the concept, the book isn’t read straight through from cover to cover. Instead, when the characters reach a point in the story when a decision has to be made, for instance to follow or not follow orders, you make the decision for them and the story tells you what page to turn to based on your choice. These kinds of books can be quite popular due to the fact that they engage the reader actively in the story. Disney Lucasfilm Press has released two in addition to this one, with a fourth one to be released as part of the Journey to The Rise of Skywalker. This one is part of the Flight of the Falcon line of stories that tells the history of the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.

There were many choices that had to be made throughout the story. However, not all of them lead somewhere. Most choices lead to dead ends in the story with a note to go back and help Luke and Leia make a better choice. Several leads to the same outcome eventually no matter what is picked. As I said, I’ve never read a book like this before, but I’m pretty sure the outcome of the story is supposed to change with what you pick and there should be multiple endings. Even if there’s only one ending, how you get there should change depending on what was chosen. But in this instance, there was only one “right” path.
